A new video

First of all, I feel much more pleased with this video than the last one I’ve uploaded. However, my thoughts are lately all over the place and are hard to catch into words. Which makes it difficult to create a post, video or write a story. Luckily I have a holiday trip planned in three weeks and hopefully that will get me rested, relaxed and back to myself and of course I hope it will give me some new ideas and inspiration. I’m looking forward to it!

Lacking creativity

So of course I took my camera to Amsterdam, so I could try it out. Unfortunately the editing didn’t go exactly as planned, I either made the video too long or the voice-over too short. Oh well, next time better right, I’m just still in the process of figuring things out and am still learning, also I sort of lacked inspiration to fill the gaps. However, if you want to skip right to the voice over, it starts at 13 seconds.

Two days of Amsterdam

I have had a lovely two days in Amsterdam this week with my mom. On Tuesday very early in the morning we went, by car, on our way to Amsterdam and checked into our hotel around 10.30. We decided weeks ago on a mystery hotel (it was cheap) and only knew what the hotel was 48 hours before. It was a surprise to find out that the hotel we were going to stay was 4 stars, we never stayed in such a luxury hotel before. The only downside I thought it had was that the bathroom door couldn’t be locked and was made of matt glass, I’m the kind of person who locks the bathroom door even when I know no one is around and the house is empty, but I survived these two days.

After we checked in and dumped our stuff in the hotel room we took the bus to get to the Rijksmuseum, something we planned on doing. First of all it is a beautiful building both outside as inside and of course it was massive. Perhaps a bit too big, as we didn’t see all the paintings in there. So after what must have been a couple of hours in the museum, we went to get some drink and a stroll around Amsterdam. Along the famous canals, but also had a look in the American apparel, where I fell in love with a beautiful jumpsuit. A bit more expensive as I normally would go for, but I looked great and was really comfortable, I mean really comfortable so of course I had to have it.
By this time our feet were killing us, our stomachs were empty and shops started to close. So fill our stomachs, we went to have some pasta at dinner and after that we went back to our hotel.

The next day we started with a delicious but large breakfast. I had, toast, bacon, beans in tomato sauce, sausages, croissant, yogurt, granola, fruit, tea and some orange juice. I know it’s a lot, but I had a hard time choosing.
We cleared out our room, checked out and got back on the same bus as the day before. We planned on doing some more strolling around Amsterdam and do a little shopping. First stop was Kiehls were a lovely friendly lady gave me personalized advice for my skin and I got some products to try out. Of course I went into many more shops, but I forgot their names and there were many. But what I could tell you is that the next time I go to Amsterdam I won’t go to the Kalverstraat again, the atmosphere there wasn’t as good as some other parts of Amsterdam.
At the end of the day before heading home we planned to walk through one of the gardens behind the museum, but unfortunately by the time we got there it was closed. Which made me a bit upset, but at the end it didn’t make these two days any less great.

A collection of things I have bought.

The quest for the stars. Part 2

A deep breath. I sit up straight in a bed of moss. Dark tall trees all around me, keeping every form of light out, away from here. Fear grabs my throat, I can’t breath. I look around me. ‘Where am I.’ I try to calm myself. A strange sound coming from my right. I listen, but soon the sounds are everywhere. I feel surrounded. I get up and start to run. A shrill laugh like an echo through the trees. I trip, get up again. I close my eyes.
‘It’s a dream, it’s a dream’ I tell myself over and over again. The sounds recede. I open my eyes.
‘It’s not a dream’ a man in a black robe. His ominous laughter, around me creeps and monsters gather. One of them, female, scraggy, she has antennae on her head, out of two ruptures come large wings, which must have been painful.

An infernal beeps, goes right through me. I press my hands over my ears and squeeze my eyes shut. I don’t want to hear it, I don’t want to see it. I fall to my knees, I scream………
‘Stop! Make it stop!’
There it is again that laugh. Tears roll down my cheeks. I pick my forces together and raise my head, my eyes pointed at him. Everything is covered in a red haze, blood.
‘Get lost’ I hear myself saying.
‘You can’t save them, Ailis’ his voice sounds like a whisper that makes your hair stand-up straight.
How can he know my name. A wind gust, he disappears and so do the monsters.

A light comes at me, it’s my star. ‘I am so glad to see you’ sounds hoarse out of my throat. Behind him floats a woman, whit white blond hair, a crescent on her forehead. They are getting closer.
The woman kneels beside me.
‘Please, don’t give up you are our last hope’ her beautiful brown eyes are full of despair. I don’t understand what she means. She helps me up. I hold out my hand.
‘Ailis’
‘I know, my name is Flores.’ She says while she bows. She stared puzzled at my hand. Quickly I lower my hand.
‘Acerbus, the man in black, his weakness comes from hope and love out of friendship. You can do it, follow him.’ She points at my globe. She gets swallowed by the darkness and is nowhere to be seen.

I follow the star, as Flores told me. We arrive at a large palace guarded by monsters of 3 meters tall and unbelievably  broad by all the muscles. While I start to panic about how to get past them, the star floats further. It looks like he knows a shortcut. A small hole in the wall, I can just about push myself through. Once on the other side, we search for a hiding place, a huge trough for the dragons they ride on. The iron odor of fresh blood surrounding us. My eyes fall on the glass greenhouse in the middle, the plants look withered and death in there. It seems like that in the greenhouse there is a swarm of fireflies, only bigger, they are like the globe next to me, stars.

‘Uh… uhmmmm’ comes from behind us. A voice behind me. I turn around and stare directly into a pair of bright green eyes. These sit in the face of a handsome man, with high cheekbones and broad shoulders. A dream to see. I’m mesmerized, whereby I don’t notice that the star, my globe is taken away from me.

‘So pretty, so beautiful. It’s a waist I have to get rid of you. You would have been a fine mistress.’ With a soft seductive voice he whispers into my ear. A shiver runs down my spine, but I’m feeling flattered, why?
‘Go to hell’ I say defiant whilst I’m pushed against the wall with nowhere to go.
‘I could of course stuff you like an animal and put you in my room. So your delicious beauty is there for me to enjoy everyday.’ He says whilst his fingers glide through my hair. At once his hand grabs my hair. The expression on his face suddenly changes, his eyes are shooting fire. He pulls me close.
‘Reminding myself how you resisted against me, how you were against me, dirty whore!’ a punch in my stomach.
‘How dare you, I’m your ruler’ he snaps at me. I feel how I start to glide away.
‘No way’ he grabs at my throat and lifts me up again. His fingers dig a way into my skin and squeeze my throat shit. I’m doing nothing only letting my tears escape.
A star appears behind him, on its way to the greenhouse to save its friends. It’s my star that is bashing at the door to save the others. My courage, which seconds ago was hard to find, but now is starting to grow inside of me again. I thought I lost him forever. I grab the arm of Acerbus in an attempt to free myself. It works.
‘Au’ he lets loose and is looking surprised at the large blister on his arm at the place where I touch him. I don’t understand, how…? But then I remembered what Flores told me ‘his weakness comes from hope and love out of friendship’. I’m not exactly Shure what I expected, but most definitely not this. I step in his direction, bringing my hands towards his face. I straighten my shoulders, take a breath  and brace myself. I take his face in between my hands, the way you would hold the face of a lover when you're about to kiss him or her. I look straight into his eyes and feel how the meat of his skin start to boil underneath my hands. With a frightful look in his eyes, he looks at me. He is trying to gasp for air. He better not, because it made him burst into flames. I took a step back and walked around him.

The Acerbus tried to extinguish himself by rolling on the ground breaks the lock of the greenhouse. The door flies open and the stars begin fleeing. Once more I look back at Acerbus, who is still trying to extinguish himself by rolling on the ground, but instead he sets his palace on fire. The flames grow bigger and bigger. I decide to not stay any longer and to run along with the stars, outwards in the direction of an open field. It’s night. We stand in the open field with a view on the wild sea of flames swallowing all the darkness.
The stars begin to dance around me like a hurricane, toward the sky where they can take their rightful place. I look upon the only lasting star on earth floating next to me, it stays.

It’s over, we won. ‘Look father, I saved the stars. I thought you said no woman could not do such a thing’

Dutch version:

Ik voel me omsingeld.

Tranen rollen over mijn wangen.
Ze helpt me overeind. Ik steek mijn hand uit.
‘Ailis’

Sterren.

‘Uh…uhmmm’ klinkt vanachter ons. Een stem achter me.

The quest for the stars. Part 1

On my toes, I sneak along the houses, the sleeping village out and into the forest. The forest has been a restricted area for years, it has been said to be dangerous. Filled with strange creatures lurking. There are stories going round about some people who entered the forest but never returned. If my parents knew what I’m about to do, me, a girl, a woman on an adventure, on a quest for missing stars, they would freak out. That’s a man's job, my dad would say. Women are unsuitable.
The world is asleep. The crackling of branches and leaves, my breathing are the only sounds. No owl, no mouse, nothing that seems to come alive this night. I look up at the sky, it’s as if you stare into a black hole.

It’s almost dawn when I am finally far out of reach from the village. I decide to make a camp.

Just when I lie, I hear some rustle outside. It comes from the bushes behind me, breathless I lie listening to what is going on. Letting myself believe it’s just a bunny nibbling on grass. It doesn’t take that long before my curiosity takes over from my fear. Carefully, on my toes, I sneak outside, towards where the sound is coming from. With my left hand, I slide some branches out of the way. A bright light shines in my face, blinding.

When my eyes became accustomed to the light, I see that it comes from a small globe, the size of a child’s hand. The globe is the light itself. It’s trying to hide behind a large leaf, but it shines too bright. ‘Don’t be scared little one, I won’t hurt you’ I whisper in his direction when I sit before him.

I remember the stories my grandmother used to tell me, when she was still alive. In her stories she described globes like this one, she said they were stars from up-close.

The globe of light floats my way and hides in my red hair, whereby my hair looks like a sea of flames around my face. I take him with me in my tent. Perhaps it can help me find the rest of the missing stars.
The sun has just started to climb its way to the top of the sky when I’m packing so I can continue my journey.

Here I stand, in the middle of this forest with its snow-white leaves, pale trees so high that they keep company in the sun and a fresh flowery scent. ‘What did I think when starting, I don’t even know which side’ I say out loud to myself. With a rush the light globe flies towards me, whereupon it pushes me in my back. Almost I lose my balance. I focus on the star, it floats ahead of me, comes back and start to float ahead again. Would it want me to follow me? I take a step in his direction, he floats a little further. I start to follow him, into the woods. The ones so white leaves are losing their brightness, becoming more grey with every step I make deeper into the forest.

After days of walking and having seen the forest getting grayer and darker and when the fresh flower scent has made a place for the smell best described as the smell of moist leaves and moss rots on the forest floor. The star freezes. Before him a wall of branches with large thorns. The sun is shining bright, however the light doesn’t seem able to reach the wall. A silence. Not one sound. The whirring of my own blood fills  the space. I take a deep breath and start to wriggle myself through the wall. The crackling of branches, thorns scratching at my skin, my own breathing and nothing. On the other side, I am shrouded in darkness, the sun doesn’t even seem to exist here. The star starts to float next to me, bringing a light to this darkness. Never have I experienced a silence so asphyxiating, so oppressive as the one here. The fragrance of death fills my lungs, I look down at my feet, I stand in a sloughy swamp. Around me the swamp is scattered with pools. My stomach turns around when I see what is drifting in the pools. Dead bodies. Drifting everywhere. The smell of rotting flesh is getting stronger, everywhere I look I see pale faces.
I walk a little further and kneel down next what once was a pretty girl with a friendly face. It’s like time stood still, as if she’s just asleep. Her lips pale-blue, her skin gray, her hands folded over her stomach, dirty wet hairs cover her face like a spider's web. I want to get a better look at her. With my right hand, I want to sweep her hair aside. Just when my hand is about to reach her face, she opens her eyes. Two bright blue eyes stare right at me. My heart is in my throat. A cold slithery hand is grabbing my arm, coming from nothing and pulling me down. I try to come up again, but it holds me down. I fight, trying to get out of its clutches. For a moment I succeed, I’m up I take a deep breath before it pulls me down again.

Dutch version:

Geritsel in bosjes.

Twee helderblauwe ogen staren me aan. Mijn hart klopt  in mijn keel.

June favourites 2015

Summer has actually arrived now, well, I  could say a few degrees less would be better, but I’m not complaining. At night 1:00 AM a heavy thunderstorm awoke us, this says a lot about the thunder because I sleep very heavy and rarely wake up from anything, not a sound. So all awake we sit in line on our terrace looking up at the sky watching the thunderstorm shoot, it’s lightning to the ground and listen to it rumbling loudly, just like we used to do when we were little.

I know it has been rather quiet here on my blog. This last month has been filled with doubt, not so much doubt on whether I would continue this blog, but more doubt about the things I think, say, do or an idea that pops up in my mind. My mind goes almost immediately to a negative space, where I go and think it was stupid, worthless and incredibly dumb idea.
The thing is, for the past couple of months my anxiety is more of a constant factor than one that only comes up when something ‘terrifying’ is about to happen. It’s now a constant feeling of worries and doubt, my stomach is almost all day filled with nervous butterflies. With that, my OCD has been terrible as well. (This is a subject I don’t really talk about, because I feel slightly ashamed for having it, I also won’t go into details. Perhaps with some time I might, if it would be helpful for others). I never really worked on it like I have with my anxiety, I always waved it away saying ‘it isn’t that bad’, ‘it doesn’t really bothering me’, ‘it doesn’t affect my life’. The truth is I can’t really live with it, it does bother me, it keeps me doing from certain things and it does affect my life. So this month for the first time I properly started working on my OCD, with the help of a
psychologist. Something I should have done sooner, before it all went a bit crazy.

As for the coming month, I will keep fighting my OCD and anxiety. Also, I plan on doing some work and hope to be more active on my blog, although the heath hasn’t been good help, it made me lazy and every bit of movement creates sweat. J

My favourites in the month of June:

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn: In the beginning of the month of June I’ve read this book and it didn’t took look before the story swallowed me in. It is a thrilling book that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Although the end didn’t quite measured up to the rest of the story, but that didn’t stop me from thinking it was a good book.

Casuelle vanilla cream Lip balm: Moisturizing and a delicious vanillary sent and I love vanilla. Only    € 0.99.

Palmer’s Shea butter formula with vitamin E concentrated cream: My hands are uncomfortably dry, So a good hand cream would be helpful. This particular one I had once before during wintertime and forgot how rich and creamy it was. It leaves a layer of moisturizing goodness.

Chocolate: This is a bit of a weird one for me, as I’m usually not such a chocolate lover. But lately I’ve been craving chocolate, the extra creamy one from Milka.
